When the Mr Bean rage face came out it was pretty funny, but recently I think the people who use it are using it wrong. They’re adding it to the end of any sexual rage comic, assuming that we’re not gonna get it unless we see Bean’s face.

As if having 2 Me Gusta faces is not enough to say “y’all this is kinky”, you have to go the extra mile to add the Bean face. It’s almost like saying, “you’re so dumb I’m going to have to SPELL IT OUT for you.”
The more earlier Mr Bean faces were more of an alternate form of “that’s what she said” or Me Gusta, but recently people are adding the Bean Face to every sexual rage comic. Guys, we’re not stupid, adding an extra panel doesn’t make the comic funnier, in fact it makes it dumb and it’s not like the bean face makes it more obvious or better or whatever crap.
Less is more, kids.
-disclaimer. I don’t make rage comics, I just read them-
my whole family writes like this
Music is an integral part of studying, duh. So if you listen to music when you study, Study=Music, therefore study week=music week.
Yeah, anyways,
As a wishy washy, ex-wannabe guitarist/songwriter, it is pretty natural for me to pay a crap load of attention to guitar parts (riffs, solos, or just accompaniments). This week, with my iTunes on shuffle, I really noticed 2 bands that write, in my opinion, really awesome guitar parts, whether they are riffs or just guitar parts.
I’m going to throw in a disclaimer, as always, to say that I am by no means a professional critique-r of music, nor do I have a vast knowledge of music and bands or whatever crap like that. This is all opinion from a procrastinating Design student who pays lip service to good music.
Alexisonfire broke up a few months ago due to departure of 2 members, one being the famous Dallas Green. The official decision is something like “With the departure of two members it would be difficult to maintain our musical style, and we see ourselves going downhill from here. That is why we decide to disband Alexisonfire now, when we are at our peak, instead of tainting our legacy by dying at rock bottom”. They had the Bakuman mentality before Bakuman themselves </otaku>
Well uh, just listen to the lead guitar part during the chorus, and try your best to ignore Dallas Green’s sexyass voice. There are some bands that play octaves over powerchords to make the guitar part seem fuller and stuff. Alexisonfire plays solo-like riffs to fill up the sound instead, how badass is that. Well, not that badass, but you get my point. They like to split up the 2 guitar parts into separate…channels? Balance? Forgot what it’s called, but splitting it up between the Lspeaker and the Rspeaker. You should listen to the song through the individual speaker and then with both of them together. But, give some props to the guy who mixed their songs, and the sound guys who do the levels for them in live shows.
I know VERY LITTLE about the 2nd band: Asian Kung Fu Generation.
They are Japanese and Anime companies love taking their songs for the opening themes. In fact, most of my songs from them are opening songs from some sort of anime I used to watch. In this case, Bleach. You can practically apply anything I said about Alexisonfire and apply it here, But I really have to say they have taken intertwining the 2 guitar parts and intricate riffs and all those crap to a different level. Essentially the guitar parts are just really well written and has a lot of minor details that contribute greatly to their sound. The thing I love about AKFG most is most definitely the intro riffs. The guitar duets they pull off is what really sets this band apart from other bands. BUT. I think in general Japanese bands are very guitar oriented, so AKFG could probably be just 1 in a million. Whatever.
TLDR: I am a huge sucker for bands that write intricate duo-guitar parts.
I have most definitely just exposed myself as someone with very low musical vocab…in fact a music noob in general. LOL. But honestly, I can be sick of Alexisonfire and AKFG (which I am), but I’ll never cease being infinitely impressed by how well written their guitar parts are. Yes, I am aware there are millions of bands out there who are likely to be better than them, and yes, I am aware of my shallow pool of artists I listen to. I do try to discover new bands and keep my eyes and ears open to different music, but my enthusiasm sort of died off after something called “university” happened.
Actually, University didn’t kill my enthusiasm for discovering music, League of Legends did.
